The creator of the history blog The Making of Madrid, Felicity Hughes is a journalist by day and a thriller author by night. Interested in the darker forces that shape polite society, her career began in Japan where she wrote about the seedier side of Tokyo for The Japan Times, Bizarre magazine, and The Guardian.
Now living in sunny Spain, she has written articles about Madrid for the FT and Time Out, and is the author not only of Secret Kingdom’s upcoming guide to Barrio de las Letras, but also of the Madrid chapters for Lonely Planet’s new Spain guides.
In her first novel “The Insect Room” she has created a spooky coming-of-age story set during a long hot summer in 90s England in which a family of new-age travelers clashes with a reclusive aristocrat.
The evening will be in chat show format, covering an exploration of Felicity’s life and works, readings and a Q&A, it will include refreshments and book signing.
Whilst the event is free, places are limited. Please reserve via 3€ “priority postcards”
